LRHS Administrative Assistant Mrs. Janet Ross earned the respective title of Administrative Assistant Of the Year after years of hard work and devotion. Her determination to make students feel safe and welcome in the main office at Lakeland Regional Highschool is one of many reasons why Mrs. Ross was awarded this distinction.
“Janet is the heartbeat of our Main Office — the steady, positive force who keeps our school running and our community connected. Her ability to balance accountability with genuine care has transformed the way we support students and families,” according to the LRHS staff.
Mrs. Ross was stunned when she found out she received this title and was overwhelmed with joy and support from her fellow colleagues, friends, and family. She was grateful that she received recognition for all her hard work and determination as a role model for young students.
Humbled by this honor, Mrs. Ross said, “I wouldn’t call myself a mentor, but I do try to be a positive example for students. Having a bowl of mints and granola bars on my desk helps!”
When Mrs. Ross first started at LRHS, it was a roller coaster trying to adjust to the various new responsibilities, but the staff was so helpful to her and really got her through her first years at LRHS. Mrs. Ross said the students and her fellow colleagues make showing up to work every day easier. She had to overcome many challenges in her job over the years, but with help from her fellow colleagues and support from friends and family, Mrs. Ross became successful nonetheless.
“Janet’s impact goes far beyond her job description,” said LRHS guidance counselor, Mr. Brian Mulhern. “She creates a welcoming environment for students, parents, and staff, and handles every situation with patience and grace. She exemplifies what it means to serve our school community.”
Mrs. Ross is very thankful for her students as she really got to build connections with many of them over the years. Mrs. Ross says, “I was overwhelmed and grateful to receive this recognition. Having good friends, who are also colleagues, conspire with my children to present the award to me was just amazing!”
Ultimately, Mrs. Ross said she would love to thank each office and department who all have individuals who have helped her earn this award at LRHS. She is grateful to receive this recognition as she has worked hard for many years at LRHS and she is thankful for all of the connections she has made here over the years.
