On Thursday, April 23, 2026, Lakeland Regional High School (LRHS) proudly welcomed over 40 children for Bring Your Child to Work Day. The event was very successful, offering future high schoolers an opportunity to explore the school environment while also learning about the different roles, responsibilities, and routines of LRHS students and staff.
Bring Your Child to Work Day is recognized annually to give younger kids a preview of what the working world looks like. It helps them understand how workplaces function, engages their curiosity about careers, and shows the importance of teamwork and collaboration in the real world.
LRHS English teacher Ms. Laura Fucilli emphasized the fact that she “had so much fun bringing her kids to Lakeland and showing them what she does every day in the classroom.”

This year’s event allowed children to participate in fun activities like coloring, a robot demonstration, kickball, music, and a meet-and-greet with a therapy dog. The day was planned and organized carefully with many activities involved for kids of all ages to enjoy. One highlight of the day was the school-wide scavenger hunt, which motivated kids to explore and work together if desired. Scavenger hunt sheets were provided in the Media Center for anyone wishing to participate along with stickers to mark each item that was located around the school. LRHS students helped out with the event and it was noticeable how they were brought back to their younger years as they connected and engaged in conversations with the little ones during the various activities.
The event ran smoothly thanks to the effort and organization behind the scenes. The children even received “Future Lancer” t-shirts and name tags to commemorate their time at LRHS. A pizza lunch was served in the Media Center for those who wanted to mingle with staff members and their children.
From the preparation of the scheduled activities, everything came together to create a meaningful experience for the high school students, the kids, and the staff. Bring Your Child to Work Day continues to be respected as an important tradition. It not only connects the children to the working world, but it also strengthens the sense of community within the school. Judging by the enthusiasm and participation this year, it’s clear that the event left a lasting impression on everyone who was involved.
