Ms. Valerie Gawron was recently selected as Staff Member of the month for her exceptional leadership, creativity, and dedication to students through her work.
Ms. Gawron has taught at Lakeland for the past 11 years and said it has been meaningful to get the chance to work with the Art 1-4 modified class. It brings joy to her whenever she gets the chance to see them and design unique projects. She loves teaching Art because she gets to work with the students, work through all of their problems, and make unique art projects.
Ms. Gawron consistently goes above and beyond for students. She connects exceptionally well with these learners and is always designing fresh, hands-ons, and meaningful projects that build confidence and creativity.
“I feel honored and pleased,” said Gawron. “I’m happy that my hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Ms. Jamie Cawley, an area supervisor, had some positive things to say. She said that, “Gawron also works to create opportunities for collaboration with our sending districts. Most recently, she coordinated a wonderful partnership in which younger students from the sending districts designed monster drawings, and our modified students brought those ideas to life through original art pieces created in class.”
Some fun facts about Ms. Gawron is that her grandmother went to high school with Elvis Presley! She also has 22 tattoos of other peoples artwork and counting because all designs are unique in their own way.
