The Student of the Month for December is junior Leonardo Castillo Barrera for his involvement and participation in ESL and English.
Barrera’s English and ESL teachers, Ms. Melissa Roush and Ms. Amy Saco, nominated him for the award due to Leo “participating in class discussions”, and the fact that he “is excited to come to class” which shows that he is dedicated and eager to learn something new.
Ms. Roush also said that he is an academic weapon, “completing his English work with minimal assistance.”
Leonardo was surprised about receiving this award and said that it was strange because he didn’t think he would get it.
Leo humbly said, “I just do my work!”
When asked about his dedication to these classes, Leo said that it was because “I get my homework done on time and I’m very disciplined.”
Leo also said his favorite part of the English class is that, “I feel free, I have time to talk to my friends, and have discussions in class”.
Leonardo loves to crochet and improve his art skills in his free time.
