Ms. Karen McCormack is Lakeland Regional High School’s 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year! Her kindness and positivity in the classroom bring out the best in everyone around her and “she radiates the kind of goodness that lifts an entire building,” according to staff.
When asked what she attributes to her success, McCormack stated, “Teaching at Lakeland for the past 30 years has allowed me to build deep, lasting relationships with students, families, colleagues and the Lancer community. This longevity has helped me develop a strong understanding of the school’s culture and the needs of my students.”
McCormack expressed that her favorite part about being a Lancer is the Lancer family bond. Whether it’s families, students, colleagues, she cares about the community and has built strong relationships over the years.
The Lancer Ledger received a heartwarming quote from another staff member who stated, “Karen doesn’t just teach — she transforms the lives around her, every single day.”
McCormack strongly encouraged any future Lancers to get involved and work hard. She also expressed the importance of taking breaks when working hard. A favorite experience she shared was being able to have her kids in the same building as her for a period of time, and being able to have a “front-row seat” to their high school experience. Congratulations to Ms. McCormack on receiving the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year award. It is extremely well-deserved!
