Lakeland Regional High School’s Drama Club is performing a fresh new fall play for audiences this weekend directed by Drama Club Advisor Ms. Melissa Gentile. With 26 members attending and helping out the crew, the cast is looking forward to showing off their talent in their new comedy performance called Mutually Assured Destruction (M.A.D.).
The performance by the Drama Club can be seen on Friday, November 21 at 7:00 pm, and on Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 pm in the LRHS Lecture Hall Stage for a $5.00 admission fee.

Cast member, Jovie Kazimir, has described the show as “a play about siblings between the decades, showing sibling conflict and drama.” According to Kazimir, the performance resemble how arguments don’t need to be dwelled on forever and can be resolved. She adds that “as time goes on, you can see how each decade’s problem affects the people and how it does so.”
Kazimir has been acting since she was around seven years old, and she jumps on any opportunity that she gets to show off her talent.
Assistant director of the play, Alice Strom, has said that her favorite part overall about participating in the performances with the LRHS Drama Club is “watching people experience theater for the first time, and watching them grow from auditions until now.”
A major part of the play that makes it successful according to cast member, Dahlia Jorgenson, is “practicing lines as much as possible, and helping others with their lines.” Additionally, keeping the energy up with the crew and everyone is an important job that the assistant director, Strom, has to accomplish.
When attending the show, try to recognize some of the cast members’ favorite scenes in the play and see which scene resonates with you.
Jorgenson’s favorite scene is the 1968 scene. She says that “it’s going to be really funny. The characters for that specific scene are so vastly different and it’s going to make for a great moment within the play.”
Strom’s favorite scene is “A Love Letter to Ma.” She believes that “Dan [Duarte] and Joaquin [Fernandez] have fantastic chemistry and [that] they’re so funny.” Cast member, Cheyenne Langhorn, agrees with Strom saying that their scene overall is comedic.
Be sure to attend the Drama Club’s fall play to support the theatrical talent at LRHS!
