A Sprinkle of Christmas is new holiday film on Netflix, directed by Nicholas Humphries and written by Shannon Latimer. The movie came out in 2024 and was rated 5.7/10 by IMDB. In my opinion, this isn’t the best holiday movie I have ever watched; however it is a feel-good movie to watch during the holiday season, and if I had to rate it, I would give it a 8/10.
The protagonist Libby opens a bakery right before the holidays and finds a secret negative review online from a man named Theo, who is actor Peter Halloway. Libby is then hired to cater Peter’s brother’s Christmas engagement party. She doesn’t realize that this is the same guy she has been arguing with online.
Hayley Sales, the actress who plays Libby portrays a likeable, determined, and relatable business owner with big dreams who is easily offended by negative comments. The role brings a familiar and comfortable vibe to the movie. Marshall Williams is the actor who plays Peter, a big celebrity who hides behind a fake online identity under the name Theo. The dynamic between the two characters sets up for tension between the baker and the critic.

This movie is a light-hearted rom-com full of holiday cheer. The atmosphere of modern bakery, online feud, and romance gives the movie a modern twist.
There are many important themes shown throughout the movie. One is the idea of identity and how leaving negative reviews may impact a real person and their feelings. Another theme is the idea of second chances. The movie emphasizes the fact that you should look past first impressions and give people the benefit of the doubt. Another theme is the idea of balancing one’s dreams and reality. The last theme I would like to mention is the idea that love can be found in unexpected places. These two characters are very different from one another and romance somehow bloomed under their interesting circumstances.
This movie is good for those who enjoy a Christmas romance with a modern day plot. Fans who enjoy second chances and stories of small businesses will also enjoy watching this film. A Sprinkle of Christmas is a chill movie with romance, tension, and a sweet ending.
While it isn’t breaking new ground, A Sprinkle of Christmas succeeds by delivering what viewers want during the holiday season. A warm, comfortable, relatable story that reminds us that mistakes and misunderstandings can lead to positive outcomes.
