Although the 2021 season of bowling at Lakeland Regional High School was not as fulfilling as it used to be in the aspects of sportsmanship, competition, and the play of the game in general due to safety protocols put in place because of COVID, LRHS bowling and Coach William Rubinstein have managed to persevere to play the sport as best they could.

The team has managed to follow safety guidelines to a T, and though they weren’t able to participate in tournaments such as county, conference, and states they still had a great season with a new roster. “Overall, for it being a new team with new bowlers, the team performed great!” Team Captain  and senior Joe Bruno said.

According to Coach Rubinstein, the season was jam packed with new bowlers, more than expected for any session, let alone a pandemic one. There were two key players, seniors Jared Conte and Bruno, who were returning and leading the young team.

This season managed to blow away the minds of Bruno and Coach Rubinstein, as Mr. Rubinstein’s goal was to get as many people on the bowling teams as possible, which worked out really well.

Bruno’s goal was to improve his skills and be there more for his teammates. Another positive of the season was watching the players grow, new and old, as Coach Rubinstein said, “It was very gratifying to see their skills developed throughout the season.”

The bowlers have managed to do it all, from handling protocols easily to learning so much about the sport, to being able to hone their skills during the season. LRHS bowlers and Coach Rubinstein look forward to more good news for future seasons.
