LRHS girls lacrosse had a great season, with multiple team and individual accomplishments.

Lakelands girls varsity lacrosse team had outstanding year, making it all the way to the county finals. Coming into this season, the girls wanted to improve on their teamwork and their game, and they did just that.

On how the season went and how the team did, coach Erin Murphy, who is also a LRHS math teacher, said, “The season went well. We were able to have a  good showing in our conference, go to county finals, and have multiple individual accomplishments.”

Coach Murphy credits the team for working together to create such a successful season. She shared that some key players that really contributed to the success were “senior Kendall Lomascola and senior Angela Nyhuis on attack. In the midfield attack, sophomore junior Devyn Tanajewski and sophomore Kaitlyn Collins did an amazing job on the draw. On defense, senior Juliethe Sison and senior Nora McDonagh helped to keep teams from putting up points.”

Collins made it to the 100 point club with two other teammates.

Lomascola, Collins, and Tanajewski all surpassed the milestone of scoring their 100-career point. Everyone here at Lancer Ledger would like to congratulate the girls on that.

Lomascola told The Ledger, “Our season went better than expected. No one really thought we could have done what we did, like make it to county finals or hang with any of the top teams including our win against Sparta, [a] first time in school history.”

Lomascola, celebrating her 100th point, said it was an honor being such a big part of the team this year.

Lomascola played a really important role this season. When asked what it felt to be playing that role she said, “Being a big part of the team is definitely an honor. I never believed I could be one of the top players and be as good as I am. My coach, Murphy, has really helped me improve and she is the reason what I am here today. I wouldn’t be doing as well as I am without her.”

Lakelands varsity girls lacrosse had an amazing season, and next year they are looking forward to playing hard and hopefully getting even farther than they did this season.
