With Valentine’s Day around the corner, love is in the air. It is the perfect time to get cozy and watch the best romance movies with either a partner, family, or friends. From classic love stories that make hearts ache to hilarious rom-coms that make our hearts full, there’s a movie for everyone to enjoy on our list. Each and every movie has its own charm, and regardless of which one you choose to savor, we hope it satisfies your craving for some romance this Valentine’s Day.

10 Things I Hate About You

~ Teenage girl Kat Stratford is not typically interesting in dating boys and usually wants nothing to do with them. Meanwhile, her younger sister, Bianca Stratford, is not allowed to date until her sister does. Kat soon meets a boy who may change her ways.
Ava: “This is an emotional movie with a lot of plot twists, and a good mix of emotion and good feelings.”
Amelia: “This movie never gets old and (Heath Ledger) Patrick Verona’s grand gestures seem like a dream”
50 First Dates

~ Lucy, with short term memory loss, forgets the man that is in love with her every day. Henry decides to take on different ways to make her fall in love with him each time she sees him.
Ava: “Great story line and it shows that anything is possible when you have your heart set on something or someone.”
Amelia: “Such a sweet movie and it shows how true love can never be replaced or forgotten.”
The Notebook

~ A classic romance where two teenagers fall in love over the summer, but get ripped apart by time and social class due to the protagonist Allie’s wealthy parents and their disapproval of their daughter’s humble, yet passionate love interest, Noah. As time goes on, the movie shows us what happens when the lovers are separated and when fate helps them find their way back to each other. The emotional journey that brought both characters back together is both heartfelt and genuine as Allie and Noah grow old together. Even when Allie’s memory fades, their love lasts a lifetime.
Ava: “Great mix of emotion and romance, and is a classic romance. This film also shows how love is not forgotten and how people go to great lengths for love.”
Amelia: “Such a classic romance. Sometimes people say its ‘overrated’ but personally, I loved it.”
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

~ Magazine writer, Andie Anderson, is tasked with writing a story on how to lose a guy in ten days. While at the same time, love interest, Ben Barry, has a bet that he can make a girl fall in love with him in the next ten days. This romantic-comedy takes wild turns and introduces chaos and laughter as it shows how two individuals who were not intent on finding love can find a perfect match in one another.
Ava: “Drama filled, romantic, and a great movie to watch when you just need a good laugh.”
Amelia: “By far my favorite romantic comedy. It is so funny and still has the perfect amount of love and drama combined.”
27 Dresses

~ Jane has been a Bridesmaid 27 times in her life, but has never been the bride. She is always putting others’ happiness before her own. She soon meets a wedding reporter who challenges her to put herself first and finally starts her own love story.
Ava: “Personally, I’ve never watched this movie, but I have heard great things and plan to watch it soon.
Amelia: “It is very cheesy in the best way possible, as the ending with all the bridesmaids wearing her 27 dresses is so sweet to see.”
The Kissing Booth

~ High school girl, Elle Evans, starts a ‘Kissing Booth’ at a school fundraiser and accidentally kisses her best friend’s older brother. Her and Noah begin a ‘secret’ relationship and it progresses throughout the other versions of the movies. Elle is followed by drama because she struggles to balance friendships, a relationship, and life outside of Noah.
Ava: “All versions are great and can get cheesy, but is still one of my favorites.”
Amelia: “Not my personal favorite, but a great movie to watch with family and friends.”
People We Meet on Vacation
~ Best friends Alex and Poppy make it a tradition to go on vacation together every year, but after trying to pursue something more, the tradition ends out of awkwardness and tension. They see each other on a wedding vacation and decide to pursue the question of whether or not it was always ‘just’ a friendship.
Ava: “This is a brand new movie, but it was better than I thought it would be. Super funny, romantic, and drama-filled with many plot twists.”
He’s Just Not That Into You

~ A romantic comedy that follows many people/couples through their relationships. Navigating modern dating, confusion, and mixed signals, the characters finally find the hard truth that when someone wants to be with you, they will do whatever it takes.
Amelia: “I believe everyone must watch this movie at least once. It is so eye-opening and funny at the same time.”
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
~ This film is one of 3, and is a rush of feelings, humor, and love. The main character, Lara Jean accidently had her fake love letters mailed to each of her crushes from the past, and the disarray follows her throughout the film.
Ava: I love this movie and all the versions of it. It shadows commitment, drama, love, and some mystery.
Anyone But You

~ Two individuals, Ben and Bea go on a date and a misunderstanding afterwards turns them into enemies. They end up reuniting on a wedding vacation, and have no choice but to tolerate each other. They decide to pretend to be a couple to make their exes jealous, but it turns out that maybe it is not an act after all.
Ava: “This movie has a perfect mix of humor, romance and plot twists. It is also a perfect example of how anything can happen.”
Amelia: “Very funny movie and overall an extremely entertaining two hours with an amazing soundtrack.”
