Mr. Brian Mulhern is January’s Staff Member of the Month for School Counseling.
Mr. Mulhern was nominated by his supervisor Dr. Tim Conway, director of school counseling, for “going above and beyond, creating innovative ideas within his department and being a leader in many forums this school year.”
Mr. Mulhern has been a counselor at Lakeland for 20 years, and he said he was surprised and honored to receive this award. In his nomination, Dr. Conway says, “Brian has demonstrated leadership in his department in organizing the freshman orientation program in the summer, classroom lessons with departments, and coordinating peer leadership groups with our transfer students (SWAN), just to name a few.”
As president of the Lakeland’s Education Association, Mr. Mulhern is also very involved in LRHS in many other ways, as he continues to work with faculty and administration to create a better, more positive work environment.
When Mr. Mulhern was asked what his favorite part of working at LRHS is, he said it is “watching students grow from freshman to turn into adults.”
Fun facts about Mr. Mulhern: He has a wife and two daughters, and he also has season tickets to the New York Giants.
