Boys volleyball has had an amazing 2022 season, with winning many games, advancing to championships, and having an amazing team bond that can never be broken.

For the first time since 2014, Lakeland boys volleyball team won the county championship against PCTI, 2-0. There is pride within the whole team, and Coach Brian Phillips credits the seniors saying, “The boys have been a tight knit group since freshman year, so having them enjoy playing together and being friends outside of volleyball makes things much easier because the team has a nice chemistry to it.”

Being 17-3 this season, there have been big wins including beating West Milford twice and beating Wayne Hills in the county semi-finals to advance to the county championships. However, nothing beat the biggest win at the county championship game against PCTI.

The state tournament started on May 23. When asked about the tournament, Coach Phillips said, “We are looking to make a nice run in the tournament and see how far we can go.” Although recently, the team lost in the third round against Teaneck, the boy still made a reputable run.

Overall, the 2022 boys volleyball teams season was a successful one, along with bringing home a county championship and advancing to the states tournament, the team bonding was at an all-time high. Coach Phillips and his team are enthusiastic about how the season went, and wish all the graduating seniors well.
