The winter track team at Lakeland Regional High School had a phenomenal season, as they broke records and won championships.

The girls, led by senior and All-American Angelina Perez, were top two in the conference, county, state sectional, and state group meets. That being said, Perez won the NJ State Meet of Champions, broke the NJ record for the 3200 meter run, and remained undefeated.

The boys also had their fair share of wins, with the title of Big North Conference Champions and finished third in both the county and state.

The Lancer Ledger interviewed Coach Damiano Conforti. He credited a number of athletes that stood out and made strides throughout the season. These athletes include seniors such as Angelina Perez, Abby Horevay, Caitlin Fahy, Hanna Miles, Owen Gibson, Lucas Hebner, Matt Minnuini, and juniors such as Nathan Caldwell and Owen Horevay.

Coach Conforti also added that he thinks the team will further progress in the coming years. He said, “It’s no doubt that this team will continue its dominance. The program is set up for success for years to come!”

The Lakeland community is not only proud, but excited to see what else the team will accomplish in the future.
