Football player, Tom Brady, competing here against the Vikings, retired earlier in 2022, but officially un-retired this past weekend.

Tom Brady is not retiring after 22 year in the NFL. Although he made his retirement announcement in early February, he officially un-retired this past Sunday, March 13, 2022. Although fans are rejoicing at this news, some are feeling heat from it – including the new owner of Brady’s “last” football, which was purchased for  $518,000 this past week, and this Lancer Ledger writer, who worked hard on a retirement article.

There were rumors that Brady might un-retire due to the fact he still had a contract with the  Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and although many thought he was out for good, those rumors proved to be true.

Brady’s been involved in football for several decades and has carried his legacy throughout them all. At 44 years old, he is one of the oldest players in the league. Of his many accomplishments, Brady is titled the most successful quarterback in history, giving him the nickname the “G.O.A.T.” (Greatest of All Time). As far as achievements go, Brady’s won seven Super Bowls – six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lastly, he’s earned a series of awards like AP Most Valuable Player, Best NFL Player ESPY Award, Sport Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year, Super Bowl awards, and many more.

The short-lived retirement was going great for Brady. According to the Hollywood Reporter, he’s currently working with Jane Fonda and Sally Field on a movie that will start production this spring. The movie’s called 80 for Brady and will tell the story of the 2017 Super Bowl. In addition, Brady released a clothing line called Brady Brand. Brady Brand sells comfortable loungewear and is sold at Nordstrom and online.

Tom Brady had expressed his sadness in regards to leaving football. He stated in an interview, “I have loved my NFL career, and now it’s time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it’s best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes.”

Welcome back, Tom!
