Boys varsity boys basketball grew as a team throughout the challenging season.

As the last whistle blows, it ends another season for the Lakeland boys basketball team. Even though it was not the season the boys wished for this year, with a 2-23 record, it was a fun one where the team played their very best every time they set foot on the court.

Coach Ryan McCarney said, “The 2018-19 boys basketball season was a learning experience for everyone. Coaches and players faced many challenges, but we all continued to work hard to get better every day. Many young players had a valuable experience this season, but we thank our seniors for their dedication over the past four years.”

Key players for the Lancers were seniors Mike Ross, Anthony Fattarusso, Connor Conklin, Jeffrey Arnold, Matt Cecchini and sophomore Joey Mazzola.

Senior players told the Ledger how much this season meant to them. Fattarusso said, “Even though we did not do our best as a team this year, I still had a great time playing with my friends, and I will miss giving fools the JELLY!”

Ross reiterated the same, saying, “I am really going to miss all of the memories I have made while playing on this Lakeland basketball team, this is something I will remember forever.”

The Lancer boys basketball team surely should be proud of themselves. Even though the season was rough, they kept their heads high and gave it all they could.

Stay tuned because Lakeland basketball is going to come back even stronger next year.
