Lakeland Dance Team Goes Undefeated
The Lakeland dance team had an amazing 2019 winter season, coming out undefeated in the jazz category, the only sport to be undefeated this year, and accomplishing their goals for the season.
The dance team took home the trophy for the National Championship in jazz for the second year in the row, winning the state title in the category.
On top of this, the team worked hard to rise up in other categories. Coach Ashley Talmage told the Ledger, “One of our goals was to push ourselves in the Pom category and place higher than we had the years prior. Every single competition, we moved up in ranking, ending in a 6th place finish at Nationals [for pom]. That was an amazing result for us!”
Coach Talmage describes this past season as “inspiring”, adding that “the girls and I decided in the very beginning of the summer that we would have no regrets this season and that mindset pushed us to accomplish the amazing things we did this year.” She describes her team as a family, “We win as a team, lose as a team and push each other to be our absolute best.”
This year, the 5 seniors, Maddie Ostrander, Marly Goldring, Jenna Quinn, Julie Imbasciani, and Allie Adams, led the team and were described as being “standouts” by Coach Talmage. “Their knowledge and experience is invaluable in inspiring the underclassmen. We could not have done it without them and I will never forget this year.”
Lakeland congratulates the team on a great season, and can’t wait to see what they bring next year!
