1,000 points is a dream accomplishment to every high school basketball player. Lakeland’s own Junior Kiera Marks hit her 1,000 point during a game against Bergen Tech on Thursday, January seventeenth, joining a very select group of basketball players at Lakeland who have reached this goal.

She told the Ledger, “It was very exciting, and it made me very happy to finally hit that goal after so much hard work with my team.”

Coach Brian Phillips was also elated for his player. Coach Phillips said, “I was very proud of Keira when she scored her 1000th point.  I know how hard she has worked to improve as a player and it is nice to see that hard work pay off.  She is very deserving of the honor and I look forward to see what she can do over the next year and half she has left in her high school career.”

This goal didn’t come easy. Marks had to put in numerous hours in the gym practicing her shot and skills. Marks said, “I practiced everyday and played all year round to make myself able to make that goal come true.”
