“Heading” to the Top: Lakeland Girls Soccer
Success came on and off the soccer field for the Lady Lancers girls varsity soccer team. The young team worked hard and had a lot to be proud of this season.
The Lancers battled their way through a very tough schedule this year, finishing 12-7-1.
Coach Marlow told The Ledger that the team went into the season with the goals of reaching the quarterfinals of the state championship and semifinals of county championship. She was proud to report that, “We exceeded our teams goals.”
The key players for the Lancers were senior defender Nora Mcdonagh, sophomore defender Katie Mullen, and midfielders senior Grace Yost, junior Devyn Tanajewski and senior Emma Gibson. Key players up front were sophomore Teresa Centurione and junior Rylee Johnson.
Sophomore Alie Barna said, “This was a great season with a great group of girls.” Sophomore Katelyn Collins agreed with Barna, adding that season was “filled with a ton of laughs and great memories.”
Coach Marlow is proud of her team’s accomplishments and stated, “With such a young team, next season looks very promising for these ladies!”
