Coachella 2024: A Festival of Fun

The 2024 Coachella concert was one of the most memorable events so far this year.

Coachella is a three day outdoor festival that took place from April 12 to 14 and April 19 to 21. Hosted at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, headliners performing this year included Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator, and Doja Cat. Coachella is most known for exotic and outgoing outfits by those attending. As a whole, Coachella is a place where artists get recognition and are able to express themselves through music.

Performers
Coachella is one of the only festivals that incorporates all different types of music. Kicking off the festival, Del Ray, along with Billie Elish, wowed the crowd with her entrance and collaborations. Del Ray and Elish had an amazing bond on the stage and amazed the audience with their talent. Another pair that went above and beyond was Peso Pluma and Anitta – their performance was spectacular. Lil Uzi Vert had an amazing time on stage, and had the crowd going wild with his dance moves. Ken Carson’s set was high energy, full of mosh pits and yelling.

Later in the festival, headliner Tyler The Creator had an amazing and talked about performance with his close friend, Kali Uchis, as well as appearances by A$AP Rocky and Childish Gambino. Ice Spice had a spectacular show giving attending fans a preview of her new song. To the delight of the crowd, Doja Cat unexpectedly brought out A$AP Rocky, Teezo Touchdown, and 21 Savage to her set. Jhene Aiko calmed the crowd with her angelic voice, then a while later Lil Yachty pumped the crowd up with Don Toliver.

The second weekend brought smaller crowds, but strong performances and enthusiastic concertgoers. Kid Cudi made headlines after he broke his foot during his set. Fans went wild when Tyler, the Creator brought out Odd Future. Grimes, who also DJ-ed week one, made a comeback. To top it off, Doja Cat made her second appearance of the weekend, becoming the first female rapper to headline the festival week two.

Brands
There were many brands, from the beauty industry to popular energy drinks at Coachella, inviting many influencers and celebrities to enjoy the three day festival. One of the many brands was Celcius, an energy drink. Celcius threw an exclusive invite-only party in the Indio Desert, with special artists such as T-Pain performing. Along with Celcius, many beauty brands such as Revolve and Rhode Beauty threw events together, while Hailey Beiber’s skincare brand Rhode had a photo booth for guests and Supergoop was handing out their infamous sunscreen. To keep the crowds hydrated, Kendall Jenner’s tequila brand 818 along with Kylie Jenner’s Sprinter Vodka Soda provided drinks. More brand events saw performances from Ludacris and Sean Paul.

Adias also collabed with Bad Bunny as soon as they heard he was the first Latin performer on the Coachella line-up. Adias opened a pop up shop with the new release of shoes that Bad Bunny designed.

Influencers
With the help of social media, Coachella is an extremely popular event with younger generations. Big social media stars vlog their journeys to their fans through platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. This season, big names such as Alix Earle, Charli D’amelio, and James Charles were all the talk. These influences attended on April 11-13, but posted their experience on later dates.

A new influencer, Earle, wowed the crowd each day. Her outfits ranged from basic tees to all out rhinestones, making sure you wouldn’t know what was coming next. On day one, Earle wore a casual white top with black leather shorts, paired with a matching jacket. The next day, she made sure to keep up the excitement with black patterned knee high cowboy boots and a gold purse. On day three, Earle went above and beyond with a matching black and rhinestone set.

D’amilo approached Coachella confidently on day one she wore a black and white bikini style set paired with a sheer skirt covering. D’amilio styled this outfit with chunky silver jewelry, a bandana, and platform boots. Controversy arose when D’amilio stunned the crowd with her sheer material dress on day two, leaving fans on all platforms in awe when they saw her cream dress with butterfly embellishments. D’amillio paired this with a green patterned scarf and another pair of platform boots. With the same material as day two, day three’s outfit was an off the shoulder long sleeve and a black mini skirt. She dressed this up with a thick in style belt and knee high platform boots.

Charles made a statement all three days from the with his signature eye catching makeup looks. Each makeup look coordinated extremely well with the outfits he had worn. Charles made sure to have a wide selection of different textures in his looks. Day one was a “blackout.” Dressed in all black, Charles kept it exciting with many different textures in this look, pairing it with a silver eye. For day two, he transitioned into a “country-style” approach, wearing an open denim jacket with jeans. This was kept exhilarating with bright orange accents coming from his boots, bag, and signature makeup. On day three, Charles presented a more casual matching set but kept it eye-catching with textured chunky boots and gloves.
