The team had a strong season, and look forward to next year.

Throughout the 2023 boys tennis season, the team has grown significantly, and it’s easy to be impressed by how far they have come. They ended with a 6-10 record.

This season, the tennis team competed in Pompton Lakes at The Passaic County Tournament. The team impressively made it to the second round and exceeded everyone’s expectations. Coach Richard Wiley attributes the team’s success to his players’ hardwork and determination.
Junior Matthew Studwell agrees with Coach Wiley. He shared, “We had a great season.” One highlight for him was “beating Indian Hills in a nail biter [that] was exciting and intense for us.”

Personally, Studwell states how he’s grown a lot since last year, beating people he lost to in the past and learning how to slice better overhangs. Matthew overcame big losses and tough obstacles by never worrying about losing – he believes that if he stayed worrying about a loss, he would never get better.

Studwell, along with junior Robbie Seela, almost beat top seeded Wayne Hills at the county tournament.

The team is super excited for next season since starters from this season are returning!
