The swim 2022-2023 season for the Lakeland Lancer & West Milford (LLWM) swim team created a lot of amazing new memories and an even better season.

When asked by the Lancer Ledger about their season, many players described it as a great experience and a way for the team to grow as a whole and individually. This season, the team was packed with swimmers getting new personal records and even breaking school records. Junior Ashton Moses described it as “nothing but successful.”

Senior Nicole Racana told the Ledger, “This season was absolutely great, the team is amazing! It was definitely exhausting but it was all worth it. Going to Wendy’s together and Senior Night were the best memories!”

With every good team there has to be a strong captain. This year senior Owen Schouten headed the LLWM swim team through all of their ups and downs. Junior swimmer Steven Bracken commented, “Even though we were down swimmers this year, our captain Owen Schouten always kept us motivated and uplifted the mood in the toughest of times.” Many swimmers on the team commented on how fun and outgoing Schouten is as a captain and as a classmate.

For anyone thinking about joining the LLWM swim team next year, Moses told the Ledger, “My advice to new or returning swimmers would be to set goals for yourself, and challenge yourself to try and achieve those goals before the end of the season.” Senior Maeve Grant said, “Always try your best to beat your personal records and put in a lot of hard work!”

It was an outstanding and hard working season for the LLWM swim team, and we wish the best of luck towards their next season.
