Changing the Game: NBA Signs First Female Assistant GM

Kelly Krauskopf always lived by the motto that your gender should not define your spot in the workplace. That is why she is only one of 17 woman who have broken into the male dominated business side of the NBA as the Indiana Pacers new assistant general manager

According to statement released by the Pacers, Krauskopf said, “My past experience has shown me that building winning teams and elite level culture is not based on gender — it is based on people and processes.” Krauskopf is no stranger to the game. She played four seasons at Texas A&M University, spent 19 seasons in the WNBA as a top executive for the Indiana Fever, and helped oversee Indiana’s new NBA2k league team.

On top of this, Krauskopf also served as the WNBA’s first director of basketball operations, as an assistant commissioner for the Southwest Conference and on USA Basketball’s women’s senior national team committee. Clearly, Krauskopf is very respected in the sports community and takes her job very seriously.

Krauskopf’s story should be an inspiration to all. It tell you that that no matter what gender you are, you should do something you are passionate about.
