Senior Alexandra Callahan was nominated by the LRHS Business Department for October Student of the Month in business. The department justified their nomination by saying that Callahan is a “top achiever in our business courses.” Callahan has not just excelled, but she is also the president of the Business Honor Society this year, as well as a DECA officer. The department continued, praising Callahan for being “dedicated, hardworking, and a true leader among her peers.” Outside of LRHS, Callahan is enrolled in two college credit offerings— UDEL ENTR101 and Seton Hall ECON 1403. The business teachers closed off by explaining that, “her work, creativity, and leadership abilities [made] her a top choice for this award, and we are honored that she is so invested in our department.”

Callahan was interviewed by the Lancer Ledger to get her input about her award nomination. She responded, saying that although she “was not expecting to be awarded … at all” that she was “very happy and proud” that was chosen for the opportunity. Callahan was nominated in the business category and is very invested in this area because it allows her a lot of flexibility. She can choose if she wants to work independently or with a group. She continued, explaining that there are “so many different areas of business to focus on” she can choose from depending on what she wants to do.
