Ms. Laura Fucilli, English teacher at Lakeland Regional High School, is due with her first baby on January 17, 2018. The Ledger sat down with Ms. Fucilli and asked her to look at some old wives’ tales to predict the gender of Baby F.

Chinese Gender Chart: BOY

The Chinese Gender Chart takes in factors like mother’s age to determine the gender of the baby. According to the gender chart, Ms. Fucilli is having a boy.

Feel of the Mother’s Skin: BOY

The old wives’ tale states that carrying a boy leads to dryer skin for the mom, while girls leave the skin feeling soft and smooth. Ms. Fucilli states her skin has been extra dry during her pregnancy.

The “Glow”: BOY

It’s rumored that those that “glow” during pregnancy are having a boy. Apparently, girls steal your beauty. Obviously, Ms. Fucilli is still radiant, so the baby must be a boy.

Baby’s Heart rate: GIRL

Faster heart rates may reveal the baby is a girl, while boy’s tend to have slower ones. At the beginning of her pregnancy, Ms. Fucilli revealed the baby’s heart beat was on the fast side, so maybe Baby F is a girl after all!

Foot Growth: GIRL

The wives’ tale states that foot growth during the nine months of pregnancy means you’re having a boy, while girls keep you in your current shoe size. Ms. Fucilli’s feet are still the same size since she started carrying Baby F.

Cravings: BOY

If pregnancy has the mom craving salty food, you may be having a boy. Girl babies tend to make moms crave sweet treats. Bring Ms. Fucilli some chips! Her cravings are pointing towards a boy.

Clumsy vs Graceful: GIRL

While moms are rumored to be more graceful with girls, those that are more clumsy may be carrying a boy, according to the old wives’ tale. Ms. Fucilli is still full of poise and grace – just look at those high heels she wears while 8 month pregnant!

Although all signs point to a BOY, Ms. Fucilli tells The Ledger that her gut is saying a little GIRL will surprise all of us at LRHS!
