Senior Daniel Thomas was nominated as September’s Student of the Month for his work in DECA and his involvement in the business department.
LRHS business teacher Ms. Candy Urbanski nominated Thomas for his outstanding work in the DECA club and for his participation and engagement in her class. Ms. Urbanski said, “[Daniel is] a very dedicated student [whose] maturity is far past his actual age.”
Business teacher Mr. Cole Lankford echoed these sentiments and said that “it has been a pleasure working with Dan and watching him grow.”
Thomas has been involved in Lakeland’s business programs since his freshman year and has stuck with it into his senior year. Daniel was described as “one of the most active members in the DECA program.”
Thomas was very surprised and humbled when he received this award and said, “There are many other dedicated people in the business program who also deserved this award.” He said that he enjoyed being in the business program and that it would “progress [his] career overall.”
Thomas has spent the last few years working on music-making and studying music. The business student also plans to go to Sussex Community College and study mechanics.
