Gianna Peralta is Student of the Month for Athletics for her role in the girls lacrosse program at LRHS.
Coach Erin Murphy, who also is a LRHS math teacher, nominated Peralta for her “integral part” in the program throughout her high school career. According to Coach Murphy, on top of earning her 100th career point this season, Peralta scored 19 goals and had 9 assists in April alone. On her game play, Coach Murphy shares, “[Peralta] was a key component taking the draw as well as playing midfield.” Coach Murphy went on to praise Peralta for being a leader and captain both on and off the field.
After receiving her award, Peralta told the Ledger she felt honored. She shares that she truly enjoyed being with and leading her team throughout the season. Just because Peralta is graduating does not mean her lacrosse career is over – she will be playing at Stockton University next year.
Fun fact: Peralta is a lefty, but plays sports with her right hand.
