The Lakeland Varsity baseball team had a challenging 2025 season, with a record of 3-13.
The season was tough because the team wasn’t consistent. According to senior pitcher Mason Morgan, “This year was like a roller coaster. Our team had energy one minute and the next it was gone.”
However some people believe that the season was actually good, like Coach Cole Lankford. He said, “The season was challenging, with many losses testing the team’s resilience. Yet, amid the struggles, young players showed great potential, gaining valuable experience and improving steadily. Though the record wasn’t strong, the foundation was set for a bright future.”
Morgan shared with the Ledger that his most memorable game was with 12 strikeouts against Kennedy High School from Paterson. Senior first baseman Hammerle said that the most memorable game was opening day against Wayne Valley, where the team ended up playing eight innings and walking the opponents team off.

As the season began, the team had a strong kickoff, with the successful win against Wayne Valley. However, according to both Morgan and Hammerle, they struggled throughout the rest. However, they always gave their all to the last second.
Coming from a rough season into next year, senior players leave some advice. Hammerle said, “My advice would be to play together like a family. If your team becomes really close and plays together you will be successful and win a lot of games.” Morgan shared, “Never hang your head because the whole team will flow.”
