The 2025 season for Lakeland girls lacrosse has been through many ups and downs with a 8-9 record. Despite any setbacks, the team improved as the season went on, hitting many new milestones.
The Lancers saw some big wins against teams Morris Hills 17-6, Wayne Hills 8-5, Holy Angels 9-7, Wayne Valley 12-8, West Milford 10-9, Fair Lawn 7-5, Waldwick 9-4, and lastly a win in the Passaic County Tournament of 13-5 against Pompton Lakes. Unfortunately, the Lancers lost to Wayne Valley in a tough 11-5 loss in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Coach Erin Murphy says, “The season went well overall. Last year we had a large graduating class, so there were a lot of new players starting on varsity this season. They did a good job stepping into their new roles on the field. Our game against West Milford was memorable as we played in pouring rain. Despite the weather, we were able to hold on to the win 10-9 against our high school rivals.”

This season many girls hit new milestones in their lacrosse career as:
- Senior captain Gianna Peralta hit her 100 goal.
- Senior Kasey Killian has received high praise after being named the “Hustle Hero.” Varsity Aces say,“She brings valuable insight to the team whether it is during halftime or scouting an upcoming opponent.” Coach Murphy goes on to say that Killain “puts in the work during the off-season to improve her game and leads by example.”
- Sophomore Myla Gottshall stepped up this year on offense and became the lead scorer. Killian shares, “Although Myla is only a sophomore, she came in and helped lead the attack. She became our lead goal scorer and proved to be very valuable in every game.” Gotshall scored 51 goals this season and had 2 Assists.
Killian says that the team has things they need to improve on such as ground balls, pressure, and passing. She says, “We really just needed to improve on some of the basics like catching under pressure and being smart with the ball.”
Overall, the Lancers had a good season considering they lost 12 seniors last season they had a lot of new faces on the field to step up. Even though they had their ups and downs, all of them brought the team closer.
Killian says, “This team has the potential to go far next year. I feel they can win counties if they lock in. The team will be very similar to this year, so improvement is inevitable. As long as the girls work as a team and help each other get better they will be unstoppable.”
