Lakeland boys varsity boys volleyball had a solid season, with a winning record of 14-6.
Coach Brian Phillips predicted the season would end well and the boys team would either go far into states or counties, and he was spot on. On May 17, 2025, the team won the Passaic County Tournament.
The starting lineup of this winning team is sophomore Jason Stone, setter; seniors captions Trip Dalrymple and Luke Struble, outside hitters; freshman Chase Phillips; sophomore Brian Mann, middle blocker; and sophomore Kacper Bieneck, opposite.

Coach Phillips shares with the Ledger that Dalrymple and Struble, who are both graduating in June, helped lead the team to victory. Both have been on varsity for three years and are the current captains. Throughout these 3 years, Dalrymple has accumulated over 400 kills, 123 digs, 45 aces, 17 blocks, and five assists. Struble has accumulated over 150 kills, 47 digs, 31 blocks and eight aces over the years. Dalrymple had a great season last year, but this year he has made his game more dynamic. Struble was praised for selflessly playing any position that you throw at him.
According to the players, the best game was an away game at West Milford, where they won both sets – first set 25-18 and the second 25-14. A game that didn’t go as well as it was planned for the team was Wanye Valley on April 10, 2025. Players tell the Ledger that the team struggled with passing and didn’t put their best foot forwards.
Some advice the players have for next year’s team is to be ready for incoming freshmen, be ready for anything on the court, and assume the ball is always coming to you.
Overall, the boys Varsity volleyball team had an amazing season – they worked hard, and it shows in the way they play.
