As of late March of 2025, the average price of a dozen grade A eggs in America is around $5.90, and although they are projected to drop, the price of eggs has been on the rise for the past three years.
According to PBS News, American egg prices are on a steady increase and this is due to a mixture of inflation, tariffs, and the avian flu (also known as the bird flu). Although it is reported that the cases of the avian flu have decreased, it will take a while for the industry to recover from that aspect of the price increase.
The current price for grade A eggs is around $6.23, according to the AP, although the price has been reported to exceed this at some points locally and nationally. In late 2022, the egg industry saw an increase from around $2.00 to $4.95 per dozen, due to a previous round of the avian flu, according to CBS News.
