Senior Kasey Killian is January’s Student of the Month for her excellence in D.E.M Club.
Killian was nominated by the club’s advisor, Ms. Kali Spoelstra, who reasons her nomination for Killian’s dedication to “bringing in amazing guest speakers for her fellow club members.” Ms. Spoelstra claims that she has “no doubt that [Killian] will go on to accomplish wonderful things beyond the walls of LRHS!”
When presented with the award, Killian told the Ledger that she felt extremely appreciative, surprised, and excited. She agreed with Ms. Spoelstra’s praises on why she should receive the award, claiming that she “always reaches out to the guest speakers and organizes all of the club’s events.” In fact, she told the Ledger that these events and guest speakers are her favorite part of the club. On top of wanted to pursue a career in medicine after graduation, Killian is also a member of Wanaque First Aid Squad.
