The Lakeland Regional High School varsity dance team had a victorious season with their hard working practices, setting a promising tone for their year ahead. After all the precision and passion, the dancers showcased their hard work and dedication, earning a triumph to kick off the season at their first competition that won them first place in jazz and pom at Ramapo College.
Despite tough competition, the team consistently improved with each of their long practices. Competing in both jazz and pom, the dancers faced increasingly competitive teams, but their dedication and perseverance allowed them to rise to the occasion. Thanks to their hard work and commitment, Lakelands dancers consistently placed well at the competitions and nationals.

“We worked so hard that whole weekend [of nationals] and the whole season, that being able to sit around each other, snack, and enjoy each other’s company means so much,” said senior captain Jamie Calabrese and junior captain Alexa Ruiz.
After their exhausting but well deserved victories, they all decided to spend quality time with each other like a family. Their special bonds and shared passions are the main reason why they worked so well together and won competitions numerous times.
Each competition throughout the season brought its own unique experiences and memorable moments. Among half of the varsity dance team, most of them agreed that Ramapo was such an exhilarating and aggressive competition. For some, the highlight was the competition at Hillsborough High School, where they balanced intense performances with quality team bonding. Others favored the Wayne Valley event, where they were crowned regional champions.
From Nationals to Universals; Trip to Orlando

A recent trip to Orlando, Florida, proved to be both challenging and unforgettable for a dedicated high school dance team. Balancing grueling practice sessions and intense competitions with moments of pure enjoyment, the trip became a core memory for everyone involved. Throughout the weekend, the team pushed themselves to new limits, arriving at each practice session ready to work hard and follow their coaches guidance. Despite the rigorous schedule, the group maintained an impressive level of productivity and determination. Although they did not place, the team left with their heads held high, knowing they put on a solid performance.
Even with their tight and packed schedule, they managed to carve out some time to enjoy the qualities of Orlando. A highlight of the trip was a visit to Universal Studios, where they all experienced thrilling roller coasters. Most of the team’s favorite part of the trip was exploring the enchanting world of Harry Potter and having a sample of the famous Butterbeer.
