The Super Bowl is an enormous event among the American populace every year. From viewing parties to sports betting, the Super Bowl has become an American institution. The Super Bowl’s creation came in 1966 when the merger between the rival National Football League (NFL) and the American Football League (AFL) was formed in order for the best teams in each league to compete for a championship. Today, every team in the NFL strives all season to play in this historically prestigious game.
This year, the Super Bowl was between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were about to get their three-peat, which means winning a championship three times in a row. However, from the start of the game, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to destroy this dream.
Here’s how:
In the beginning of the Super Bowl, it was looking grim for the Chiefs as the Eagles were leading by a huge score of 24-0. Patrick Mahomes, the Chief’s quarterback, struggled to complete passes, as the Eagles defense, especially their blitzing play, was locking his receiver down, while taking away the ability to rush. Therefore, Mahomes had no other option than to toss up the ball, and he threw two interceptions as a result.
Meanwhile Jalen Hurts, Eagles’s quarterback, finished the game with 293 yards and three touchdowns. He was then declared Super Bowl MVP, and with this he has made his name known as one of the greatest quarterbacks in our time.

Of course, no Super Bowl is complete without an anticipated halftime show. Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime show was varied based on fans. His hit song “Not Like Us” brought a lot of energy. However, reviews on the performance varied. Many believed his performance fell a bit short as its political based message went against the mood of the Super Bowl. Others believe that Kendrick’s performance was well put together, as his storytelling way of singing his songs was very influential. Regardless of your feelings on the performance, Lamar’s star and feud with Drake gave him influence and star power.
There are great expectations for the 2025-2026 NFL season, and who will take the field and stage for Super Bowl LX.
