Lakeland’s 2024 season as a whole has been shaky. The team celebrated their biggest win against Manchester Regional with a final score of 6-2. Michael DaSilva, sophomore, scored an impressive four of the six goals, with William Lopez, junior, and Joseph Letterese, senior, taking the other two. Although it was not as big of a win, Captain Betim Zhuta, senior, told the Ledger that the highlight of the season was the 4-3 victory over Wayne Hills.
One thing Zhuta told the Ledger that may have contributed to the team’s rough season as a whole was the need to build up their spirits after a loss. Letterese agreed with that statement, which was also evident in the through a string of six-loss streaks from September 9-26 and October 7-22.
The Lancer’s season may have been rough, but Zhuta showed why he was the captain with his stunning hat trick over Wayne Hills on Thursday, October 24. Letterese shared with Ledger that Zhuta was a leader to the team on the field.
The 2024 season may have been tough, but the season did have its ups and unforgettable moments.
