Ms. Tammy Ozdemir is December’s Staff Member of the Month for Business Education.
Ms. Ozdemir was nominated by her supervisor, Ms. Jessica Geyer, for having “consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in education and a profound impact on the lives of her students.”
Ms. Ozdemir, who has taught at Lakeland Regional High School for over 20 years, was both excited and honored to receive this award stating, “I’ve never received something like that before.” Ms. Geyer shares that Ms. Oz, as she is called by many of her students, is more than deserving of this honor, sharing that her teaching style goes beyond the traditional, and she creates diverse classes that “seamilessly integrate technology” into each lesson, leaving her students prerpared for the 21st-century workforce.
Ms. Ozdemir is also very involved in LRHS’ extracurricular activities, leading the FBLA and Yearbook Clubs.
When asked about her favorite part of her job, Ms. Ozdemir says, “I love to see the kids’ faces when they get accepted into college or trade school.” One that same note, Ms. Oz looks forward to alumi coming back and sharing where they are going in life.
Fun facts about Ms. Oz: She has two kids who are graduating and loves to garden.
