Ms. Karen McCormack is Staff Member of the Month for Special Education.
Nominated by Ms. Audrey Poggioli, director of special services, for exemplifying “dedication and care in her role” and for “consistently advocating for her students and the STEP Program,” Ms. McCormack shared she felt very appreciated and surprised for receiving this honor.
Ms. McCormack has been at Lakeland for 29 years, and she still loves working with her students, who find jobs in the community. Ms. Poggioli also mentioned Ms. McCormack’s roots in the Wanaque, Ringwood, and Haskell, saying, “Her connections within both the Lancer Community and the broader community allow her to provide invaluable support and opportunities for our students.”
When the Lancer asked Ms. McCormack about a memorable moment while at LRHS, she answered that she will always remember watching her own kids come through the Lakeland school system.
Fun Facts about Ms. McCormack: She has a tripod dog (a dog with three legs) and her favorite food is pizza.
